Many of us undergo difficult, painful, and traumatic events in our lives – things that are not only painful while we experience them, but that have a way of sticking to us long after the fact. When the residual impact of these events follows us around, it can create a lot of fear and discomfort, making us lose touch with who we really are. This often manifests in feeling stuck in unwanted patterns of behavior, difficult feelings, and negative beliefs about ourselves. These things can be very hard to deal with when other people don’t understand. I specialize in understanding these issues and how they affect us.
I am skilled in numerous evidence-based approaches, including EMDR to treat trauma. I also incorporate mindfulness-based practices, yoga philosophy, and somatic therapy into sessions. We will focus on identifying the things that keep you stuck and addressing the roots of these issues rather than just the symptoms. By learning to shift these patterns, you can lessen the gravity of your suffering and frustrations to create real and enduring positive change in your life.
Above all else, I focus on the unique relationship that I build with each client. I personally understand the degree of strength it takes to be open and vulnerable in sharing your story and working through the hard stuff. I consider it an honor to be able to walk that path with you. My approach is collaborative, open, and warm, and I aim to create a space where each client can experience growth and self-compassion.
