MICHAEL FINNEGAN, LMHC
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) who is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) modalities. As a mental health clinician I provide assessment, diagnosis and individual psychotherapy services to adults (18+) suffering from an array conditions from chronic stress, anxiety and depression to PTSD and spiritual confusion.
I enjoy working with individuals who desire to incorporate their spiritual, philosophical or religious views into therapy and who see this as not only a process of symptom reduction but one of learning to authentically engage their lives with action rooted in their values and beliefs.
I received my Bachelors of Psychology from the University at Buffalo and my MSEd in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from St. Bonaventure University.
I also have had additional training as a Pastoral Care Assistant through the Pastoral Institute sponsored by Buffalo General Medical Center and the St. Jude Center.
In my free time I enjoy reading books on philosophy, theology and spirituality, writing, engaging in contemplative practices and spending time with my family.
I accept the following insurance:
BCBS of WNY, Independent Health, Univera, Cigna, United Health/Optum (Commercial only, no Medicaid or Medicare based plans).
